Raja Jayant of Jaunpur was very charitable, often outside his court, 2 beggars used to come to beg, the king used to give food to both of them.
A beggar who was young used to say "the king is almighty he feeds us"!
But the second beggar who was old used to say that "the God is almighty he does not leave us hungry"!
One day the king thought that I give food to both of them in charity. One considers me a giver, but the other says that God has given.
I should check these two statements, who is right after all?
On the very next day, the king ordered a watermelon from the soldiers and hollowed out the inside and stuffed gold coins inside it.
On the second day both the beggars came to ask for charity. The king gave watermelon to the young beggar, but he refused to the old beggar. King told old beggar to go and ask his God for money. I want to see how your God feed you, the king said.
The old beggar didn't feel any pain. He said, God only gives me money and food as he has a promise to me. If you don't want to give me anything then it doesn't matter. Even today, God will definitely give me something from someone's hands. Both the beggars moved away from king's palace.
Like every time, this time too the young beggar went chanting " the king is almighty he feeds us". Whereas the old beggar told passersby "the God is almighty he does not leave us hungry".
The king court
Next day the king called both the beggars to the court and asked what the did yesterday after leaving the palace.
The young beggar replied
Your majesty I sold the watermelon to a fruit seller in return he gave me money to eat some food.
Now the old beggar replied
My respected king ! Yesterday when you returned me without giving anything I left the palace chanting "God is almighty he leaves nobody hungry". I begged a fruit seller he gave me watermelon. I went home and eat with my family. It was having gold coins in it. I don't know how God arranged gold coins for me hiding in watermelon?
The king was surprised and realized his mistakes. He agreed to the wordings of old man "the God is almighty he does not leave us hungry".
